Savings allocated to Ministry of the Interior’s branch of government do not endanger internal security

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s Government agreed on the General Government Fiscal Plan for 2025–2028 on 16 April 2024. According to the plan, the level of appropriations for the Ministry of the Interior’s branch of government will decrease each year. The decrease in the spending limits of the Ministry of the Interior is due to the elimination of one-off increases, a decrease in reception expenditure and the savings allocated to the branch of government.

Report on Ukrainians who fled to Finland published

According to a survey commissioned by the Ministry of the Interior, Ukrainians who arrived in Finland as refugees after February 2022 are satisfied with their life in Finland and more interested than before in staying in the country. The online survey was completed by 1,300 Ukrainians in November 2023.

Government proposes additional funding for border security

In the first supplementary budget for 2024, the Government proposes over EUR 91 million in additional funding for the administrative branch of the Ministry of the Interior. Of this sum, EUR 86.174 million will be allocated to the Border Guard, EUR 2 million to the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service and EUR 3 million for the further development of the security authorities’ Multi-Agency Field Commanding System (KEJO).
