Emergency response centre data system Erica harmonises reception of emergency calls

All six emergency response centres in Finland took a common data system ERICA into use gradually during the years 2018 and 2019. The new system replaced the various systems earlier used by the emergency response centres, and it is also used by the police, rescue services and health and social services.

The new system directs emergency calls primarily to the emergency response centre nearest to the caller as before, but if this centre is busy, the system locates a free emergency response centre operator at some other centre.
