5.5.2022 | Coronapandemin pågår fortfarande. För att trygga hälso- och sjukvårdens bärkraft fortsätter inreserestriktionerna i trafiken över de yttre gränserna till den 5 juni. Statsrådet beslutade vid sitt sammanträde den 5 maj att de gällande begränsningarna förlängs.

7.1.2022 | Vid sitt första möte fredagen den 7 januari fick ministerarbetsgruppen för samordning av coronaåtgärder en översikt över smittläget, omikronvariantens spridning, belastningen på hälso- och sjukvården och hälso- och sjukvårdens bärkraft. Ministerarbetsgruppen fick också en översikt över hur vaccinationerna framskrider.

20.6.2022 | Restrictions on entry at Finland’s external borders imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic will end. As of 1 July, third-country travellers arriving in Finland will no longer be required to hold vaccination or COVID-19 test certificates, and COVID-19 tests will not be carried out at border crossing points. Health authorities have judged that no health grounds remain for restrictions at external borders.

8.7.2021 | The Government has decided to continue internal border control until 25 July to ensure the introduction of health security measures at borders. After this short transitional period, internal border control and entry restrictions at internal borders will be lifted. Internal border traffic refers to traffic between Finland and other Schengen countries. Changes will be made to external border control as well.

28.11.2021 | As of 15.00 on Sunday 28 November, Finland will restrict entry into the country at its external borders for travellers who have been in Botswana, Eswatini, South Africa, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia or Zimbabwe during the 14 days prior to their arrival in Finland. The Government adopted a decision on the matter on 28 November.

17.6.2021 | Entry into Finland from EU and Schengen countries will be allowed for those who have received an approved COVID-19 vaccination series and those who have recovered from COVID-19 less than six months ago prior to entry. 25.11.2021 | Restrictions on external border traffic will continue as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread. Despite the increase in vaccination coverage, there is still a risk that the carrying capacity of the healthcare system will be exceeded. For this reason, the validity of the decision made on 4 November will be extended until 19 December. However, people may still enter Finland from all countries upon presenting an approved certificate of a full course of vaccination.

2.6.2022 | The COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread. To safeguard the capacity of the healthcare system, restrictions on external border traffic will continue until 30 June. The Government decided to extend the existing restrictions at its session on 2 June.

13.1.2022 | Gränskontrollen vid de inre gränserna fortsätter och inreserestriktionerna förblir också i övrigt i huvudsak oförändrade fram till den 31 januari. Det införs dock vissa lättnader i begränsningarna i fråga om de personer som av medicinskt grundad anledning inte kan ta vaccin mot covid-19. 19.5.2022 | I vår har befolkningens attityder till invandring, internationellt bistånd och EU-samarbete blivit positivare än tidigare. Också användningen av medier har ökat betydligt. För närvarande verkar det som att befolkningen i Finland är mer social och i större grad söker efter information och litar på myndigheterna än i fjol.

19.5.2022 | This spring, people’s attitudes in Finland towards immigration, international assistance and EU cooperation have become more positive. The use of media has also increased significantly. At the moment, there appears to be a greater spirit of community among people, people seek more information and they appear to trust the authorities more than last year.

27.4.2021 | On 27 April, Finland offered to provide India with material assistance to help the country in the extremely difficult COVID-19 crisis. Finland is prepared to send oxygen bottles to India via the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism.

13.1.2022 | Internal border control will continue and the restrictions on entry will remain largely unchanged until 31 January. However, some exemptions will be made for people who cannot be vaccinated against COVID-19 for medical reasons. The Government decided on these changes at its session on 13 January and they will enter into force on 17 January 2022.

12.8.2021 | A few changes will be made to the restrictions on entry at external borders based on current incidence rates. The Government adopted a decision on the matter on 12 August and the decision will enter into force on 16 August. However, people may still enter Finland from all countries upon presenting an approved certificate of a full vaccine course.

15.7.2021 | In line with the Government decision of 15 July, the restrictions on the opening hours of border crossing points at the Finnish-Norwegian border will be lifted on 19 July. Changes will also be made to internal and external border control. According to the decision, starting from Monday 26 July 2021, persons who are able to present a certificate of a completed and approved COVID-19 vaccine course before entry can arrive in Finland from all countries.

14.10.2021 | Restrictions on entry will be lifted for residents of the countries and regions on the EU’s green list. In addition, the Vainikkala border crossing point will open to passenger traffic. 28.12.2021 | Internal border control will be reinstated at Finland’s borders starting on Tuesday 28 December. There will also be other changes to the restrictions on entry, and as of 28 December, the same restrictions will apply to everyone arriving in Finland from abroad. The Government decided on the new restrictions today. The decision will enter into force on 28 December at 15.00 Finnish time and will remain in force until 16 January 2022.
