3.2.2023 | More than 45,000 people who fled Ukraine last year may be eligible for a municipality of residence in 2023 after residing in Finland for one year, with about 13,000 already satisfying the qualifying period of residence in March–April. On registering a municipality of residence, they will leave the reception services system and become clients of municipalities and wellbeing services counties. This will make them a more integrated part of society in Finland.

18.12.2020 | Inrikesministeriet har utfärdat en förordning om polisens avgiftsbelagda prestationer. Priset på bland annat pass och identitetskort stiger. Förordningen träder i kraft den 1 januari 2021.

18.3.2021 | Sisäministeriö ja työ- ja elinkeinoministeriö ovat tilanneet selvityksen siitä, millaisin perustein ihmiskaupan uhreille myönnetään oleskelulupia. Selvityksen tekee kansallisena ihmiskaupparaportoijana toimiva yhdenvertaisuusvaltuutettu. Tarkoitus on tutkia, miten Maahanmuuttovirasto soveltaa ulkomaalaislain erityissäännöstä ihmiskaupan uhreille myönnettävästä jatkuvasta oleskeluluvasta.

18.12.2020 | Sisäministeriö on antanut asetuksen poliisin maksuista. Muun muassa passin ja henkilökortin hinta nousee. Asetus tulee voimaan 1.1.2021.

20.5.2020 | Asetusta Maahanmuuttoviraston suoritteiden maksullisuudesta muutetaan väliaikaisesti. Koronaviruspandemian aiheuttamien matkustusrajoitusten vuoksi Suomessa on henkilöitä, joiden oleskeluoikeus on päättymässä tai päättynyt ja jotka eivät pääse poistumaan maasta. Heidän oleskelulupahakemustensa käsittelystä peritään tavallista pienempi maksu.

16.2.2021 | Tutkimushankkeessa selvitettiin, millaisia yhteisvaikutuksia ulkomaalaislain ja sen soveltamiskäytännön muutoksilla on ollut kansainvälistä suojelua hakeneiden ja saaneiden asemaan. Tarkasteluun oli rajattu hallituskaudella 2015–2019 hyväksytyt tai voimaan tulleet muutokset. Tutkimuksen mukaan turvapaikkaprosessin tehostamiseksi tehdyt lakimuutokset ovat myös heikentäneet hakijoiden asemaa.

1.6.2022 | A new fast track service enables specialists, growth entrepreneurs and their family members to obtain a residence permit within 14 days. The service will be launched at the beginning of June. This service pledge is one of the Government's many measures to streamline the immigration of experts. 

16.6.2022 | When a family member of a minor who has been granted international protection applies for family reunification, a residence permit could be granted without the requirement for sufficient financial resources of sponsors who are minors. This would promote the protection of family life and the realisation of the best interests of the child. The Government submitted the relevant proposal for amending the Aliens Act to Parliament on 16 June.

17.6.2021 | The Finnish Immigration Service has introduced a new function in the service system to make it easier for seasonal workers to change employers while they are in Finland. The relevant amendment to the Decree of the Ministry of the Interior on Chargeable Services of the Finnish Immigration Service is based on an amendment to the Seasonal Workers Act. Both the amendment to the Seasonal Workers Act and the amendment to the Decree will enter into force on 17 June 2021.

16.6.2022 | När en familjemedlem till en minderårig som får internationellt skydd ansöker om familjeåterförening, ska han eller hon kunna få uppehållstillstånd utan att den minderåriga anknytningspersonen förutsätts ha tryggad försörjning. På så sätt främjas skyddet för familjelivet och tillgodoseendet av barnets bästa. Regeringen lämnade en proposition till riksdagen med förslag till lag om ändring av utlänningslagen den 16 juni.

18.3.2021 | Inrikesministeriet och arbets- och näringsministeriet har beställt en utredning om på vilka grunder offer för människohandel beviljas uppehållstillstånd. Utredningen utförs av diskrimineringsombudsmannen, som är nationell rapportör om människohandel. Avsikten är att undersöka hur Migrationsverket tillämpar utlänningslagens särskilda bestämmelse om beviljande av kontinuerligt uppehållstillstånd för offer för människohandel.

18.12.2020 | The Ministry of the Interior has issued a decree on fees charged by the police. For example, the prices of passports and identity cards will rise. The decree will enter into force on 1 January 2021.

20.5.2020 | The Decree on Fees Charged for Services Provided by the Finnish Immigration Service will be temporarily amended. Because of the travel restrictions imposed due to the prevailing coronavirus pandemic, there are people in Finland whose right of residence is about to end or has already ended and who are unable to leave the country. They will be charged a lower fee for the processing of their residence permit application than usual.

20.5.2020 | Förordningen om Migrationsverkets avgiftsbelagda prestationer ändras temporärt. På grund av reserestriktioner till följd av coronaviruspandemin finns det i Finland personer vars uppehållsrätt håller på att upphöra eller har upphört och som inte kan lämna landet. För behandlingen av deras ansökningar om uppehållstillstånd uppbärs en mindre avgift än vanligt.

18.3.2021 | The Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment have ordered a review of the grounds on which victims of human trafficking are granted residence permits. The review will be conducted by the Non-Discrimination Ombudsman acting as the national human trafficking rapporteur. The aim is to investigate how the Finnish Immigration Service applies the special regulation of the Aliens Act to the continuous residence permit granted to trafficking victims.
