Ministrarna diskuterade ländernas aktuella säkerhetsutmaningar. På agendan stod bland annat hybridhot, gränskontroll, migration, civil beredskap och den kritiska infrastrukturens resiliens.   3. 16.2.2023 | The Government has adopted a resolution on the National Strategy for the Prevention of and Response to Environmental Damage extending to 2035. The Strategy was adopted at the government session on 16 February. Its main objective is to guide the authorities’ preparedness for current and future threats of environmental damage. The Strategy needed to be updated to ensure that the responsibilities of different actors are in line with the current legislation.

  4. 20.10.2023 | Because of the escalating conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, more than 100,000 Armenians have fled the region towards Armenia. Armenia has therefore requested assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. This includes, among other things, necessities such as food packages, clothing and hygiene supplies.

  5. 11.2.2023 | Finland skickade materialhjälp till Turkiet i form av nödinkvartering för cirka 3 000 personer. Det planeras också att materiell hjälp ska skickas till Syrien enligt en snabb tidsplan. Hjälpbehovet är stort vid räddnings- och röjningsarbetet efter jordbävningen. Den första försändelsen med materialhjälp anlände till Turkiet i dag via Natos euroatlantiska räddningstjänst (EARDCC).

  6. 23.5.2023 | A study commissioned by the Ministry of the Interior examined the reflection periods granted to victims of human trafficking during which the victims can decide whether to cooperate with the authorities in apprehending those suspected of human trafficking. The study also examined how suspicion of trading in sexual services was applied as grounds for denial of admittance or stay.

Dessutom utreddes hur misstanke om försäljning av sexuella tjänster tillämpas som grund för avvisning.

  9. 26.1.2023 | On 9 January, Director General Kauko Aaltomaa, who is on leave of absence from the Police Department of the Ministry of the Interior, took up his duties as Head of Mission of the European Union Capacity Building Mission in Somalia (EUCAP Somalia). EUCAP Somalia is a civilian crisis management mission under the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy. Its tasks include promoting maritime security in Somalia and supporting the building of the country’s police and judicial administrations.

  10. 26.1.2023 | Den 9 januari inledde Kauko Aaltomaa arbetet som chef för EU:s civila krishanteringsinsats i Somalia. Aaltomaa är tjänstledig från sin befattning som överdirektör för polisavdelningen vid inrikesministeriet. Eucap Somalia är en insats inom EU:s gemensamma säkerhets- och försvarspolitik med syftet att bland annat främja sjösäkerheten i Somalia och att stödja uppbyggandet av polisväsendet och justitieförvaltningen i landet.

  11. 31.8.2023 | Finland sent a large amount of wastewater treatment plant equipment to Ukraine at the end of August. The equipment will make a significant contribution to helping Ukraine meet its water supply needs, which have grown during the summer. Finland and the EU have continued their active support of the Ukrainian authorities to mitigate the effects of the Russian attacks.

  13. 23.10.2023 | Finland and the EU have continued their active support for the Ukrainian authorities to mitigate the effects of the Russian attacks. The Ministry of the Interior coordinates the assistance that Finland sends to Ukraine through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism together with the European Emergency Response Coordination Centre ERCC. Most of the material sent to Ukraine has been donated by private and public sector operators.

Ändringarna främjar för sin del den utbildnings- och arbetsrelaterade invandringen och gör inreseförfarandena smidigare. Republikens president stadfäste lagändringarna den 20 december.
