2.4.2025 | Libya has requested technical expertise from EU Member States through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism to determine the cause of a series of house fires. One expert from Finland will participate remotely in the technical group between 2 and 11 April 2025.

2.4.2025 | The earthquake and its aftershocks in Myanmar on Friday 28 March have caused extensive damage. By decision of the Ministry of the Interior, Finland will send an expert to Bangkok through the EU's Civil Protection Mechanism to support the coordination of assistance to Myanmar. The Finnish expert will be posted to Myanmar for two weeks (2 to 15 April 2025).

24.11.2023 | Island begärde bistånd via EU:s civilskyddsmekanism den 20 november på grund av ökad seismisk aktivitet på Reykjaneshalvön. Begäran om bistånd gäller expertis särskilt inom beredskapsplanering och högkapacitetspumpning. Avsikten är att utreda möjligheterna att kyla ned flytande lava med hjälp av högkapacitetspumpar.

17.11.2023 | Egypten begärde bistånd via EU:s civilskyddsmekanism den 1 november till följd av den pågående konflikten i Gaza. Begäran om bistånd gäller medicinsk utrustning och medicinska team. Dessutom behövs experthjälp för att stödja evakueringen av EU-medborgare.

6.2.2023 | Finland is rapidly sending a team of experts to Türkiye to assist in rescue efforts following a major earthquake. The experts will be deployed through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

9.11.2023 | Utbildningen ordnas som en del av rescEU-projektet för CBRN-lagerhållning, som inleddes i Finland i början av 2023. I projektet lagras personlig skyddsutrustning, mätinstrument, snabbtester, motgifter och läkemedel med vilka man förbereder sig på kemiska (C), biologiska (B), radiologiska (R) och nukleära (N) hot (CBRN). De första 30 experterna utbildas 2024 och resten 2025.

6.9.2022 | Finland has sent an expert in international civil protection to Pakistan to assist in coordinating humanitarian aid related to monsoon floods. The expert left Finland on Tuesday 6 September.

25.7.2023 | By decision of the Ministry of the Interior, Finland is preparing to send 48 rescue workers to Portugal to help manage wildfires. The Emergency Services Academy Finland is the employer of the rescue service personnel who will be deployed to Portugal.

29.7.2022 | By decision of the Ministry of the Interior, Finland is sending 50 rescue workers to Greece to help manage wildfires. The Emergency Services Academy is the employer of the posted experts.

31.10.2022 | Finland has sent two international civil protection experts to Havana, Cuba, to support the training of local urban search and rescue personnel. Having identified a lack of expertise among Havana’s local authorities in conducting rescue from collapsed structures, Cuba requested international assistance to train urban search and rescue workers. The experts left Finland on Monday 31 October.

4.3.2022 | The Ministry of the Interior has decided to send three experts to Moldova to assist in coordinating the humanitarian assistance needed by people fleeing Ukraine. The experts left Finland on Friday morning.

8.2.2022 | The Ministry of the Interior has decided to send two experts to Madagascar, where tropical cyclone Batsirai has caused extensive damage due to heavy rains, strong wind and floods. Pelastusopisto – Emergency Services Academy Finland is the employer of the posted experts.

14.4.2022 | The Ministry of the Interior has decided to send two experts to Poland and Slovakia to assist in coordinating the humanitarian assistance needed by people fleeing Ukraine. The experts left Finland on Wednesday evening. The Emergency Services Academy Finland is the employer of the posted experts.

11.3.2021 | The Ministry of the Interior has decided to send two experts to Bata, Equatorial Guinea, where an explosion at a munitions depot has caused extensive destruction. Equatorial Guinea has requested international assistance in the rescue operations following the explosion accident. The Emergency Services Academy Finland will serve as the employer of the posted experts.

2.9.2021 | The recruitment procedure for civilian crisis management experts to be sent abroad will be developed. The Government submitted a legislative proposal on the matter to Parliament on 2 September. The aim is for Finland to have at its disposal a sufficiently large, diverse and competent group of experts for civilian crisis management tasks. Attention will also be given to the impact of civilian crisis management work on the human resources of public sector employers.

The service will be launched at the beginning of June. This service pledge is one of the Government's many measures to streamline the immigration of experts.

3.12.2019 | Anti-trafficking coordinators and rapporteurs on human trafficking from EU Member States will meet on the invitation of EU Anti-Trafficking Coordinator Myria Vassiliadou in Brussels on 4–5 December. The meeting is organised as part of Finland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

6.8.2020 | Inrikesministeriet har beslutat sända expert- och materielhjälp till Beirut via Europeiska unionens civilskyddsmekanism på grund av en explosionsolycka. Libanon har begärt internationellt bistånd hos EU:s civilskyddsmekanism. Finland är medlem i mekanismen.

12.8.2020 | Some of the Finnish civil protection experts deployed through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism will return home from Beirut after their mission ends. The task of the experts ends in Beirut because the focus of international assistance has shifted from acute rescue operations to the reception of material assistance and other assistance activities.

25.4.2017 | The Ministry of the Interior has decided to send two urban search and rescue experts to Bhutan through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The experts will be investigating the possibility of establishing a training centre to develop urban search and rescue operations in Bhutan. The operation is estimated to last from mid-May to early June.

16.9.2019 | Konferensen om förebyggande av våldsbejakande radikalisering (Conference on Preventing Violent Radicalisation) samlar ett stort antal internationella experter i Finlandiahuset den 17–18 september. De kommer att utifrån forskningsdata, praktisk erfarenhet och myndighetsperspektiv diskutera förebyggande av våldsbejakande radikalisering.

18.1.2018 | A new type of residence permit will be introduced for growth or startup entrepreneurs. The application process for an extended permit will also be simplified, and the validity period of a first residence permit for specialists will be extended. The Government submitted the new bill amending the Aliens Act for approval on Thursday 18 January. The President of the Republic is to approve the bill on Friday 30 January.
