11.4.2023 | Cybersäkerhetshoten har både ökat och blivit mer komplexa under de senaste åren. Detta kräver en kontinuerlig och målmedveten utveckling av cybersäkerheten. I en färsk utredning identifieras flera utvecklingsåtgärder genom vilka man kan förbättra myndigheternas förutsättningar för att skydda den nationella cybersäkerheten, bekämpa allvarlig cyberbrottslighet och utveckla cyberförsvaret.

22.12.2022 | Estland har tagit emot ett betydande antal ukrainska flyktingar i förhållande till landets storlek, och det lokala mottagningssystemet belastas. För att avhjälpa flyktingarnas situation erbjuder Finland och Estland dem som är intresserade en möjlighet att åka med grupptransporter till Finland. Beredning av frågan har inletts på Estlands begäran och den sker i samarbete med myndigheterna i Estland och Finland.

17.11.2022 | The Government proposes approximately EUR 217 million for the Ministry of the Interior's branch of government in the amendment to the 2023 budget proposal. 

23.8.2021 | Finland arranged a flight from Tbilisi to Helsinki on 23 August as part of the evacuations from Afghanistan. A total of 102 persons arrived in Finland on the flight. The youngest arrivals are small children.

19.1.2023 | Tillgänglighetsdirektivet underlättar ett självständigt liv och delaktighet i samhället för alla människor, i synnerhet personer med en funktionsnedsättning. Direktivet gäller särskilt informations- och kommunikationstekniska produkter och tjänster. Lagstiftningen börjar tillämpas under 2025. 

11.2.2021 | On 11 February, the Government decided to change certain entry restrictions, which will take effect from 15 February. Because the coronavirus situation in Iceland has improved, Finland will no longer restrict entry from Iceland. In contrast, entry restrictions will again apply to residents of Rwanda arriving from Rwanda. In addition, the opening hours of certain border crossing points on the western border in Lapland and the eastern border will be limited.

11.4.2022 | The Ministry of the Interior has sent out for comments a draft bill which lays down provisions on the authorities competent to counter terrorist content online. The proposal is related to the EU Regulation which aims to improve detection and removal of online content that incites to terrorist acts. The deadline for submitting comments on the proposal is 25 May 2022.

9.2.2023 | Finland has around 50,500 civil defence shelters with space for about 4.8 million people. Finland has a sufficient number of places in shelters. Civil defence shelters are located in large cities in particular. The highest number of places in civil defence shelters in relation to the population can be found in the Greater Helsinki area and Pirkanmaa. This is evident in the preliminary data of the Ministry of the Interior’s report.

17.11.2022 | I den kompletterande budgetpropositionen för 2023 föreslår regeringen sammanlagt cirka 217 miljoner euro till inrikesministeriets förvaltningsområde. 

4.8.2023 | Summary: Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues. As a result of the war, around four million Ukrainians have applied for temporary protection in the Member States of the European Union. Other migration to the EU is also growing. Both the number of asylum applications submitted in the EU and irregular migration to the EU are on the rise. At the moment, migration pressure is concentrated on the Central Mediterranean route from Tunisia and Libya to Italy.

18.12.2020 | Police traffic enforcement is of key importance to improving road safety and combating traffic crime. However, other broad-based, as well as targeted actions are also needed. An action programme for police traffic enforcement and traffic safety for 2021–2024, prepared by the Ministry of the Interior, was sent for comments on 18 December.

11.4.2022 | Inrikesministeriet har sänt på remiss ett lagutkast där det föreskrivs om behöriga myndigheter vid bekämpning av terrorisminnehåll online. Propositionen har samband med en EU-förordning som syftar till att förbättra möjligheterna att identifiera och avlägsna webbinnehåll som uppmanar till terrordåd. Remisstiden går ut 25 maj 2022.

24.3.2022 | Statsrådet föreslår ändringar i räddningslagen för att den ska uppfylla kraven i EU:s strålskyddsdirektiv. Avsikten med lagändringen är att utvidga skyldigheterna för ägaren till objektet vid efterröjning, efterbevakning och efterbehandling enligt räddningslagen.

16.9.2020 | The Ministry of the Interior has decided to send material assistance to Greece through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism due to the fire at the Moria refugee camp. Greece has requested international assistance from the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, where Finland is a member.

7.4.2020 | On 7 April, the Government adopted decisions concerning Finland’s internal and external borders. Based on the decisions, restrictions on border traffic and the quarantine rules will be tightened and continued until 13 May. The aim is to slow the spread of the coronavirus epidemic.

1.3.2022 | Den 1 mars 2022 publicerades det en rapport om myndigheternas UAS-verksamhet, det vill säga verksamhet med obemannade luftfartyg. Enligt rapporten har användningen av obemannade luftfartyg för räddningsväsendets, polisens och gränsbevakningsväsendets lagstadgade uppdrag ökat under de senaste tio åren.

29.4.2022 | Cooperation in maintaining and developing civil preparedness is an important part of the joint preparedness of Finland and Sweden. The heads of the authorities responsible for preparedness in the two countries will meet in Helsinki on Friday 29 April. The bilateral meeting is the first of its kind, and the topics on the agenda will include civil preparedness, security of supply and cyber matters. 

29.10.2021 | Finland will send six ventilators to Latvia to help the country fight the COVID-19 epidemic. The material assistance will be delivered through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.

2.12.2019 | An action plan on police traffic enforcement and traffic safety will be drawn up. The aim is to improve people's sense of security and the safety of people, the environment and property. The action plan will guide and direct the activities of the police, and it will take into account the changes that have occurred in traffic and traffic safety and the impacts of these changes.

12.12.2022 | På grund av förändringarna i den säkerhetspolitiska miljön finns det ett klarare behov av polisens reserv, bedömde en arbetsgrupp i sin förstudie. Arbetsgruppen överlämnade förstudien om polisens reserv till inrikesminister Krista Mikkonen den 12 december.

29.4.2022 | Samarbetet för att upprätthålla och utveckla samhällsberedskapen är en viktig del av Finlands och Sveriges gemensamma beredskap. Fredagen den 29.4. träffas ländernas myndighetschefer med ansvar för beredskapsfrågor i Helsingfors. Det bilaterala mötet är det första i sitt slag och på agendan finns såväl samhällsberedskap, försörjningsberedskap som cyberfrågor. 

9.7.2020 | The working group appointed by the National Police Board has examined what objectives could be set for police response times and how they could be achieved. The work relates to the target set out in the Government Programme to define maximum police response times, in other words maximum response times for the whole of Finland, and to increase the presence and visibility of the authorities, particularly in areas with a lower level of service.

5.10.2021 | The Ministry of the Interior and other ministries that use the Government Security Network will start using the new‘@govsec.fi’ email suffix on 5 October. The suffix will be used for email addresses connected to the Government Security Network (TUVE email addresses). The change is part of the overall modernisation and harmonisation of the Government’s email systems and addresses.

26.11.2021 | Finland has received EU funding to build a rescue team for fighting forest fires. The European Commission granted co-financing for a joint project of the rescue departments of South Karelia, North Karelia, South Savo, North Savo and Kymenlaakso for the procurement of special equipment required for a rescue team fighting forest fires.

24.6.2021 | Finland will send face masks, protective visors, medical gowns and swabs to Namibia to fight the COVID-19 epidemic. The material assistance will be delivered through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.

20.3.2020 | After discussions with the chairpersons of the parliamentary groups represented in the Government, Minister of the Interior Maria Ohisalo has instructed that practices for crossing internal borders be specified in order to combat the threat to internal security posed by the spread of the coronavirus.

26.5.2021 | Finland will send material assistance to Nepal through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism to tackle the COVID-19 crisis. The material assistance will include face masks, protective visors, protective gloves and medical gowns.

7.1.2022 | In its first meeting on Friday 7 January, the ministerial working group on COVID-19 was briefed on the epidemiological situation, the spread of the Omicron variant, the burden on and capacity of the healthcare system, and the progress of vaccinations.

11.5.2021 | On 11 May, Finland will send material assistance to India through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism to tackle the COVID-19 crisis, which has overburdened the country's healthcare system. Finland's assistance consists of medical oxygen tanks and pulse oximeters.

4.11.2021 | I den fjärde tilläggsbudgeten för 2021 föreslås ett nettotillägg på sammanlagt 99,7 miljoner euro till inrikesministeriets förvaltningsområde. För anskaffning av Gränsbevakningsväsendets nya utsjöbevakningsfartyg föreslås 65 miljoner euro, för tryggande av polisens verksamhet 30 miljoner euro och för förvaltningsområdets utgifter till följd av coronapandemin och gränskontrollen vid de inre gränserna 10,38 miljoner euro. 

16.12.2021 | The reception act will be amended so that the Finnish Immigration Service will have central responsibility for preparedness planning concerning the organisation of reception services in the event of a mass influx of migrants. The President of the Republic approved the bill for the act on Thursday 16 December. The act will enter into force on 1 January 2022.

4.11.2021 | In the fourth supplementary budget for 2021, a net increase of EUR 99.7 million is proposed for the administrative branch of the Ministry of the Interior. This includes EUR 65 million for the procurement of new offshore patrol vessels for the Border Guard, EUR 30 million for safeguarding the operations of the police and EUR 10.38 million for the administrative branch’s expenditure arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and internal border controls. 

27.4.2021 | On 27 April, Finland offered to provide India with material assistance to help the country in the extremely difficult COVID-19 crisis. Finland is prepared to send oxygen bottles to India via the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism.

18.12.2020 | The Ministry of the Interior has appointed a working group to prepare cooperation between rescue services, the police and the Border Guard in the use of unmanned aircraft. The objective of the working group is to harmonise sector-specific instructions on unmanned aircraft and to intensify cooperation between authorities.

9.7.2020 | En arbetsgrupp som tillsatts av Polisstyrelsen har utrett vilka mål som kan ställas upp för polisens aktionsberedskapstider och hur de kan nås. Arbetet hänför sig till regeringsprogrammets mål att för polisen fastställa maximala responstider, dvs. maximala aktionsberedskapstider, i hela Finland och att öka myndigheternas närvaro och synlighet särskilt i områden där servicenivån är lägre. Arbetsgruppens förslag överlämnades till inrikesminister Maria Ohisalo den 9 juli.

18.12.2020 | Inrikesministeriet har tillsatt en arbetsgrupp för att bereda samarbetet mellan räddningsväsendet, polisen och Gränsbevakningsväsendet när det gäller användningen av obemannade luftfartyg. Arbetsgruppens mål är att förenhetliga de sektorspecifika anvisningarna om obemannade luftfartyg samt att intensifiera samarbetet mellan myndigheterna.

7.10.2021 | The Government proposes that the reception act be amended so that the Finnish Immigration Service would have central responsibility for preparedness planning concerning the organisation of reception services in the event of a mass influx of migrants. The amendment would improve preparedness for large numbers of migrants and clarify the division of duties between the authorities. The Government submitted a proposal on the amendment to Parliament on 7 October.

27.9.2019 | The Ministry of the Interior has decided to send expert and material assistance to Albania through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism to help with the recovery efforts following earthquakes and floods. Albania has requested international assistance from the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, to which Finland belongs.

28.1.2021 | The resilience of critical entities in EU countries will be improved by reforming the old European Critical Infrastructure Protection Directive. The proposed new directive is significantly more extensive, and it aims to improve the resilience of critical entities providing essential services in the EU. The Government informs Parliament on 28 January of the new proposal for a directive. 

7.5.2021 | The Ministry of the Interior has published a report on the perceived security threats raised by different religious communities in Finland concerning their religious premises. The report also lists proposals for improving the safety and security of such premises.
