11.9.2020 | On 11 September, the Government adopted a decision on restrictions on border traffic, which will enter into force on 19 September and continue until 18 October. Restrictions on entry will be lifted for traffic between Finland and Cyprus, Germany, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Poland and Sweden, as well as for residents of Australia, Canada and Japan who are travelling from their home country to Finland.

5.11.2020 | On 5 November, the Government adopted a decision on restrictions on entry into the country, which will enter into force on Monday 9 November. Restrictions will be lifted for residents of Singapore who are travelling from their home country to Finland. Restrictions on entry will also be lifted for residents of the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions who are travelling from these regions to Finland, provided that reciprocity is confirmed by the Council of the European Union.

1.10.2020 | Statsrådet fattade den 1 oktober beslut om inreserestriktioner som träder i kraft den 5 oktober. Inreserestriktionerna införs på nytt i trafiken mellan Finland och Litauen, Polen och San Marino.

22.1.2021 | On 22 January, the Government decided to tighten the restrictions on entry into Finland. The new restrictions will enter into force on 27 January and will remain in force until 25 February. The new restrictions aim to reduce cross-border traffic in order to prevent the spread of the new COVID-19 variants. The epidemiological situation in Finland differs considerably from that in other Schengen countries.

1.10.2020 | On 1 October, the Government adopted a decision on restrictions on entry into the country, which will enter into force on 5 October. Restrictions on entry will be reintroduced for traffic between Finland and Lithuania, Poland and San Marino.

8.10.2020 | On 8 October, the Government adopted a decision on restrictions on entry into the country, which will enter into force on 12 October. Restrictions on entry will be reintroduced for traffic between Finland and Cyprus, Latvia and Liechtenstein. All existing restrictions on entry will continue until 10 November.

7.1.2021 | Statsrådet beslutade den 7 januari att inreserestriktionerna fortsätter fram till den 9 februari 2021. Coronaepidemin fortsätter att tillta tydligt världen över, och i de flesta länder ökar antalet smittfall kraftigare än i Finland. Det är således inte motiverat att lätta på begränsningarna innan de kompenserande åtgärder som är under beredning finns att tillgå i tillräcklig utsträckning.

11.2.2021 | On 11 February, the Government decided to change certain entry restrictions, which will take effect from 15 February. Because the coronavirus situation in Iceland has improved, Finland will no longer restrict entry from Iceland. In contrast, entry restrictions will again apply to residents of Rwanda arriving from Rwanda. In addition, the opening hours of certain border crossing points on the western border in Lapland and the eastern border will be limited.

11.2.2021 | Statsrådet beslutade den 11 februari om vissa ändringar i inreserestriktionerna från och med den 15 februari. På basis av sjukdomsläget begränsar Finland inte längre inresa från Island. Inreserestriktionerna återinförs i trafiken från Rwanda till Finland i fråga om invånare i Rwanda. Dessutom begränsas öppethållningstiderna for vissa gränsövergångsställen vid den västra gränsen i Lappland och vid Finlands östra gräns. Restriktionerna gäller till och med den 25 februari.

10.12.2020 | On 10 December, the Government decided to extend the restrictions on entry into the country until 12 January 2021. The COVID-19 epidemic is still clearly growing globally, and the number of infections is increasing in most countries. Although the number of new cases in Finland started to rise in the autumn after a calmer period in the summer, differences between the epidemiological situations in Finland and many other countries have recently grown sharply.

10.12.2020 | Statsrådet beslutade den 10 december att inreserestriktionerna fortsätter fram till den 12 januari 2021. Coronaepidemin fortsätter att tillta tydligt världen över och antalet smittfall ökar i de flesta länder. Även om antalet nya fall i Finland började öka på hösten efter det lugna läget under sommaren, har skillnaden mellan epidemiläget i Finland och i många andra länder ökat kraftigt under den senaste tiden.

22.1.2021 | Statsrådet beslutade den 22 januari att inreserestriktionerna skärps i Finland. De nya begränsningarna träder i kraft den 27 januari och gäller till och med den 25 februari. Syftet med ändringarna är att minska den trafik som anländer över gränsen, detta för att förhindra att nya varianter av coronavirus sprids. Sjukdomsläget i Finland skiljer sig avsevärt från läget i andra Schengenländer, vilket innebär att den risk för spridning av virusvarianter i Finland som resenärer medför är betydande.

11.9.2020 | Hallitus on tehnyt istunnossaan 11. syyskuuta periaatepäätöksen uudesta toimintamallista hybridistrategian toteuttamiseksi rajaliikenteessä ja matkustamisessa. Toimintamallin avulla voidaan purkaa maahantulon rajoituksia ja samalla torjua koronapandemiaa rajoilla.

7.5.2020 | Valtioneuvosto on päättänyt 7.5. jatkaa väliaikaisia Suomen rajaliikennettä koskevia rajoituksia 14.6.2020 asti. Päätös on jatkoa 19.3. tehdylle hallituksen päätökselle, jolla palautettiin rajavalvonta sisärajoille, suljettiin tietyt rajanylityspaikat ja rajoitettiin ulkorajojen yli tulevaa liikennettä.

7.4.2020 | Valtioneuvosto antoi 7. huhtikuuta sisä- ja ulkorajoja koskevat päätökset, joilla Suomen ja muiden maiden välisiä rajaliikenteen rajoituksia ja karanteenimääräyksiä tiukennetaan ja jatketaan 13. toukokuuta saakka. Näin tehdään koronavirusepidemian leviämisen hidastamiseksi.

12.6.2020 | Valtioneuvosto päätti 12. kesäkuuta sisärajavalvonnan osittaisesta jatkamisesta sekä ulkorajaliikenteen rajoittamisesta edelleen 14.7.2020 asti. Rajoituksia jatketaan siltä osin, kuin ne nähdään välttämättömänä tartuntatautitilanteen aiheuttaman vakavan uhan takia.
