7.10.2021 | Restrictions on entry will be lifted for residents of Kuwait in traffic arriving in Finland from Kuwait. The Government adopted a decision on the matter on 7 October and the decision will enter into force on 11 October. No other changes will be introduced to the restrictions. The existing restrictions on entry at external borders will be extended until 24 October. However, people may still enter Finland from all countries upon presenting an approved certificate of a full course of vaccination.

7.1.2022 | In its first meeting on Friday 7 January, the ministerial working group on COVID-19 was briefed on the epidemiological situation, the spread of the Omicron variant, the burden on and capacity of the healthcare system, and the progress of vaccinations.

5.8.2021 | Changes are being made to the restrictions on external border traffic based on COVID-19 incidence rates, as the epidemic continues to spread vigorously in many parts of the world. The Government adopted a decision on the matter on 5 August. The decision will enter into force on 9 August and will remain in force until 22 August 2021. However, people may still enter Finland from all countries upon presenting an approved certificate of a full vaccine course.

9.4.2021 | The Government has published a plan to lift the restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 epidemic, along with a target timetable.

19.8.2021 | A few changes will be made to the restrictions on entry at external borders based on current incidence rates. The Government adopted a decision on the matter on 19 August and the decision will enter into force on 23 August. The restrictions will continue until 19 September. However, people may still enter Finland from all countries upon presenting an approved certificate of a full vaccine course.

25.11.2021 | Restrictions on external border traffic will continue as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread. Despite the increase in vaccination coverage, there is still a risk that the carrying capacity of the healthcare system will be exceeded. For this reason, the validity of the decision made on 4 November will be extended until 19 December. However, people may still enter Finland from all countries upon presenting an approved certificate of a full course of vaccination.

28.11.2021 | As of 15.00 on Sunday 28 November, Finland will restrict entry into the country at its external borders for travellers who have been in Botswana, Eswatini, South Africa, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia or Zimbabwe during the 14 days prior to their arrival in Finland. The Government adopted a decision on the matter on 28 November.

15.7.2021 | In line with the Government decision of 15 July, the restrictions on the opening hours of border crossing points at the Finnish-Norwegian border will be lifted on 19 July. Changes will also be made to internal and external border control. According to the decision, starting from Monday 26 July 2021, persons who are able to present a certificate of a completed and approved COVID-19 vaccine course before entry can arrive in Finland from all countries.

14.10.2021 | Restrictions on entry will be lifted for residents of the countries and regions on the EU’s green list. In addition, the Vainikkala border crossing point will open to passenger traffic. 8.7.2021 | The Government has decided to continue internal border control until 25 July to ensure the introduction of health security measures at borders. After this short transitional period, internal border control and entry restrictions at internal borders will be lifted. Internal border traffic refers to traffic between Finland and other Schengen countries. Changes will be made to external border control as well.

17.6.2021 | Entry into Finland from EU and Schengen countries will be allowed for those who have received an approved COVID-19 vaccination series and those who have recovered from COVID-19 less than six months ago prior to entry. 20.6.2022 | Restrictions on entry at Finland’s external borders imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic will end. As of 1 July, third-country travellers arriving in Finland will no longer be required to hold vaccination or COVID-19 test certificates, and COVID-19 tests will not be carried out at border crossing points. Health authorities have judged that no health grounds remain for restrictions at external borders.

7.1.2022 | Vid sitt första möte fredagen den 7 januari fick ministerarbetsgruppen för samordning av coronaåtgärder en översikt över smittläget, omikronvariantens spridning, belastningen på hälso- och sjukvården och hälso- och sjukvårdens bärkraft. Ministerarbetsgruppen fick också en översikt över hur vaccinationerna framskrider.

5.5.2022 | Coronapandemin pågår fortfarande. För att trygga hälso- och sjukvårdens bärkraft fortsätter inreserestriktionerna i trafiken över de yttre gränserna till den 5 juni. Statsrådet beslutade vid sitt sammanträde den 5 maj att de gällande begränsningarna förlängs.

15.12.2021 | Avsikten är att statsrådet beslutar om nya inreserestriktioner torsdagen den 16 december. Hälsosäkerhetsåtgärderna skärps och de gällande begränsningarna i trafiken över de yttre gränserna fortsätter fram till den 16 januari 2022. 

7.4.2022 | Coronapandemin pågår fortfarande. För att trygga hälso- och sjukvårdens bärkraft förlängs inreserestriktionerna i trafiken över de yttre gränserna med en månad, till den 8 maj. Statsrådet fattade beslut om att fortsätta restriktionerna vid sitt sammanträde den 7 april, och restriktionerna träder i kraft den 11 april. 

25.11.2021 | Begränsningarna i trafiken över de yttre gränserna fortsätter. Coronapandemin pågår fortfarande. Trots ökad vaccinationstäckning finns det alltjämt en risk för att hälso- och sjukvårdens bärkraft överskrids. Därför förlängs giltighetstiden för det beslut som fattades den 4 november fram till den 19 december. Man kan dock komma till Finland från vilket land som helst genom att visa upp ett godtagbart intyg över fullständig vaccinationsserie.

16.9.2021 | Inreserestriktionerna återinförs i trafiken från Singapore till Finland i fråga om invånare i Singapore. Statsrådet fattade beslut i ärendet den 16 september och beslutet träder i kraft den 20 september. Det görs inga andra ändringar i restriktionerna. De gällande inreserestriktionerna i trafiken över de yttre gränserna fortsätter fram till den 10 oktober.
