Other migration to the EU is also growing. Both the number of asylum applications submitted in the EU and irregular migration to the EU are on the rise. 7.12.2022 | On Wednesday 7 December, Finland sent buses to Ukraine to be used to transport children and young people to school. This donation is part of the European Commission’s solidarity campaign. 31.1.2019 | Finland’s national risk assessment has been completed. The aim is to anticipate sudden incidents targeted at Finland that call for activities deviating from the norm from the authorities or even requesting help from other countries. The EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism obliges all Member States to carry out a national risk assessment. 4.11.2021 | In the fourth supplementary budget for 2021, a net increase of EUR 99.7 million is proposed for the administrative branch of the Ministry of the Interior. 23.6.2021 | The Government proposal for legislation on establishing wellbeing services counties and reforming the organisation of healthcare, social welfare and rescue services was adopted by Parliament on 23 June 2021. The proposed wellbeing services counties will be established as soon as possible after the passing and approval of the relevant acts. 12.8.2021 | On 12 August 2021, the Government appointed Deputy National Police Commissioner Tomi Vuori, Master of Laws with court training, as Director General of the Police Department of the Ministry of the Interior. 30.11.2022 | On 24 November, Finland sent much needed help for the energy sector in Ukraine. The delivery package comprised components of the electricity grid, such as current transformers, circuit breakers and relays. The proposed counties would be established as soon as possible after the passing and approval of the relevant bills.
