Changes to the Firearms Act – consultation round begins
The Ministry of the Interior has sent out for comments a proposal to amend the Firearms Act. The draft proposal takes into account the need for amendments that has emerged in the application of the act following the reforms introduced to implement the most recent amendment to the EU Firearms Directive. The consultation round closes on 30 January 2026.
Police powers to conduct undercover activities in information network to be specified
The Government has submitted to Parliament a proposal to specify provisions on police powers to conduct undercover activities in an information network.
EU needs new and innovative solutions to curb migration
Finland, together with Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden, has published a letter to the European Commission calling for new and innovative solutions to counter and prevent irregular migration to Europe.
