Minister of the Interior Maria Ohisalo and Minister of Justice Anna-Maja Henriksson will present themes for Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union before the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) of the European Parliament in Brussels on 4 September.
Finland to step up efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF), which is an international body active in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, has published its Mutual Evaluation Report of Finland. The FATF states that the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing is overall at a relatively good level in Finland, but there are also shortcomings.
Additional funding for aerial forest fire detection

The long warm and dry weather spell in the early part of the summer increased the risk of forest fires dramatically almost throughout the entire country. The cost of this summer's aerial fire detection is already significantly higher than anticipated. The Ministerial Finance Committee supported on 27 June the Ministry of the Interior’s decision to exceed the appropriation allocated in the Budget for aerial fire detection. This makes it possible to conduct aerial fire detection throughout the summer season
