Minister of the Interior Maria Ohisalo will chair the meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council in Brussels on 2 December. This is the last meeting of home affairs ministers to be held under Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Among the items on the agenda are the future of EU migration and asylum policy and of internal security in the EU.
State of play and challenges of European security research to be discussed in Helsinki

The Security Research Event (SRE) will bring together international security experts in Helsinki on 6–7 November 2019 to take stock of the state of play and the challenges of security research in Europe. This side event of Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union will be co-hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and the European Commission. One of the keynote speakers will be Finland’s Minister of the Interior Maria Ohisalo.
International experts on the prevention of violent radicalisation convene in Helsinki

The Conference on Preventing Violent Radicalisation will bring together a wide range of international experts at Finlandia Hall, Helsinki, on 17–18 September 2019. They will discuss the prevention of violent radicalisation from the viewpoint of research, practical experiences and the work of public authorities.
