New amendments to provisions on detention and entry ban help safeguard public order and security
The provisions of the Aliens Act on detention and entry bans will be tightened. In addition, the Act will provide for the possibility of withdrawing a residence permit from an alien staying outside Finland and imposing an entry ban on the alien for security reasons.
Minister of the Interior Rantanen visits Greece
Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen is visiting Greece this week to meet with the Greek ministers relevant to her area of responsibility. The main themes of the visit are migration, border security and preparedness.
Finland to provide expert assistance in Southeast Asia
The earthquake and its aftershocks in Myanmar on Friday 28 March have caused extensive damage. By decision of the Ministry of the Interior, Finland will send an expert to Bangkok through the EU's Civil Protection Mechanism to support the coordination of assistance to Myanmar. The Finnish expert will be posted to Myanmar for two weeks (2 to 15 April 2025).
