8.4.2026 | The Ministry of the Interior will allocate around EUR 44 million in EU funding to projects on border management, crime prevention and migration. The projects will improve the capabilities of security authorities, develop information systems, and secure resources for the authorities to manage migration. The funding will be granted from the EU Home Affairs Funds, under the autumn 2025 call for proposals.

25.10.2024 | The Ministry of the Interior has sent out for comments a draft government proposal for an act on export authorisation for cartridge components and on acts amending the Firearms Act and chapter 46, section 1 of the Criminal Code. The aim is to prevent the export of cartridge components to Russia in particular. The draft proposal is being circulated for comments until 28 November 2024.

3.7.2024 | The Ministry of the Interior is requesting comments on the draft government proposal for a new gambling act. The reform of the gambling system is based on the Government Programme. Under the proposal, Veikkaus Oy would no longer hold the monopoly to arrange betting and online slot machine games and casino games.
