Eriikka Koistinen to continue as Ministry of the Interior Director of Communications
On Wednesday 13 September, the Government appointed Eriikka Koistinen, Master of Social Sciences, as Director of Communications at the Ministry of the Interior from 18 September 2023 to 17 September 2028.
Eriikka Koistinen has served as Director of Communications at the Ministry of the Interior since 2018. She has previously worked as Head of Communications at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and held communications positions at the City of Espoo and the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
“In recent years, our Ministry’s focus has been on communications during the times of crisis. Our topics have ranged from COVID-19 restrictions to Ukrainian refugees, assistance delivered to Ukraine and new threats to our internal security. Due to Russia's war of aggression, our communications team has prepared for hybrid influence activities in many ways. This year we have turned our efforts to promoting citizens' independent preparedness,” says Koistinen.
“However, our communications mission has not changed: above all, we will continue to communicate openly and comprehensibly about the matters set out in the Government Programme which this Ministry should move forward and how these matters will affect the people in Finland.
The Ministry of the Interior Communications Unit directs, develops and implements the Ministry’s communications. The Director of Communications is a member of the Ministry's senior management. The Director’s role also includes working together with the Government and the Ministry's administrative branch in the field of communications.
