Minister of the Interior Ohisalo and Swedish Minister for Home Affairs Damberg to discuss deepening cooperation in civil emergency preparedness
Minister of the Interior Maria Ohisalo will meet her colleague, Sweden's Minister for Home Affairs Mikael Damberg via videoconference today. The Ministers will discuss cooperation between Finland and Sweden in the field of civil emergency preparedness and contingency planning.
The purpose of the meeting is to develop cooperation in civil emergency preparedness between Finland and Sweden and to identify areas where cooperation could be further intensified.
“Finland and Sweden have a long tradition of bilateral cooperation. It is great that we can deepen our cooperation also in the field of civil emergency preparedness and contingency planning,” says Minister Maria Ohisalo.
The Ministers will also discuss topical issues related to Nordic cooperation and national civil preparedness as well as the treaty on police cooperation between Sweden and Finland, among other things.
The Ministry of the Interior leads and coordinates civil emergency preparedness in Finland. Through preparedness, authorities seek to prevent hazardous situations and prepare themselves to operate in times of crisis. The aim is to secure the disruption-free functioning of society, even in times of crisis.
