Flags to be flown on Finland’s Nature Day on 26 August
Finland’s Nature Day will be celebrated on 26 August 2017. This year the Ministry of the Interior recommends, for the first time, that the national flag be flown throughout the country to honour Finnish nature.
The Ministry has issued Government agencies and public bodies with an order on flying the national flag. This makes Finland’s Nature Day one of the recommended flag flying days in 2017.
Minister of the Interior Paula Risikko, together with a group of guides and scouts, will raise the national flag on Finland’s Nature Day at the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia in the Nuuksio National Park at 11.00. The YL Male Voice Choir will sing a new song about the national flag as part of the ceremony.
Health, wellbeing, identity and prosperity spring from our beautiful natural environment. Finnish nature well deserves its own flag day. Finnish nature, as well as the Finnish flag, belong to us all.
In Finland, everyone is free to fly the flag whenever there is a special occasion. To celebrate nature, you can also take a photo and share it on social media. To share the photo visit www.intermin.fi/liputan.
