The start of 2025 will see the entry into force of new acts and decrees. This press release provides a summary of the most important changes in the Ministry of the Interior’s administrative branch.
Matti Sarasmaa appointed as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior
On 19 December, the Government appointed General Staff Officer Matti Sarasmaa, Chief of Division, as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior. He will take up his new post on 1 February 2025 and his term of office will last for five years.
Government proposes new act to guide improvement of resilience and protection of infrastructure critical to functioning of society
On 19 December, the Government submitted to Parliament a proposal for an act on the protection of infrastructure critical to society and on the improvement of resilience. The new act will strengthen society's resilience and national security in accordance with the Government Programme.
