First national radiation measurement strategy is ready

The aim of the strategy is to ensure that Finland is prepared for managing various radiation hazards and to improve the readiness for radiation measurement to safeguard the functioning of society and its vital functions.

Border procedure could be introduced at the Finnish border in situations of mass influx of migrants or instrumentalisation of migration

In future, the border procedure could be introduced by decision of the Government if an exceptionally large number of people were to arrive in Finland over a short period of time or if hybrid influence activities that exploit migration were directed against Finland. The Government submitted the relevant proposal for amending the Aliens Act to Parliament on 22 June. The purpose of the proposal is to make it easier to manage migrants who have made their way towards Finland. The amendments are scheduled to enter into force as soon as possible.

No restrictions on external border traffic as of 1 July

Restrictions on entry at Finland’s external borders imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic will end. As of 1 July, third-country travellers arriving in Finland will no longer be required to hold vaccination or COVID-19 test certificates, and COVID-19 tests will not be carried out at border crossing points. Health authorities have judged that no health grounds remain for restrictions at external borders.
