5.3.2026 | The EU home affairs ministers will gather in Brussels on 5 March for a meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council. The topics on the agenda include the state of the critical submarine infrastructure, the management of migration and the fight against drug trafficking and organised crime. Finland will be represented by Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen.

30.1.2025 | EU home affairs ministers will gather in Warsaw in Poland on 30 January for an informal meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council. They will discuss current challenges and threats to EU internal security as well as migration management, among other topics. State Secretary Antti Salminen will represent Finland at the meeting in place of Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen, who is unable to attend for reasons of illness.

8.6.2023 | The Justice and Home Affairs Council will meet in Luxembourg on 8 June. Finland will be represented at the meeting by Markku Keinänen, Head of Mission to the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU. One of the topics on the agenda of the meeting of home affairs ministers is the reform of the EU’s asylum system. The aim is to reach agreement on two proposals for regulations, which are essential to the whole, in order to proceed with the negotiations with the European Parliament.

The topics on the agenda include issues related to border security and responding to migration. Finland will be represented by Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen.

10.10.2024 | The EU home affairs ministers will gather in Luxembourg on 10 October for a meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council. The ministers will discuss the impact of external conflicts on the EU and the development of the external border control, among other things. Minister of Transport, Communications and the Interior Lulu Ranne will represent Finland at the meeting.

The ministers will discuss issues related to border management, migration and the situation in Ukraine. Finland will be represented at the meeting by Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen.

Topics on the agenda include the fight against human smuggling and radicalisation of minors and its prevention. Over lunch, the ministers will discuss the effects of the situation in Israel and the Middle East on the EU's internal security. Finland will be represented at the meeting by Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen.

19.7.2023 | EU home affairs ministers will gather in Logroño in Spain on 20 July for an informal meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council. The agenda will include the fight against organised crime, the situation in Ukraine and migration. Finland will be represented by Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen.

9.3.2023 | EU home affairs ministers gather in Brussels on 9 March for a meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council. Items on the agenda include the monitoring of the implementation of the Action Plans on the Western Balkans and Central Mediterranean migration routes. The European Commission presented both plans at the end of last year. Minister of the Interior Krista Mikkonen will represent Finland at the meeting.
