EU home affairs ministers to hold a video conference to discuss the state of play on response to COVID-19
Minister of the Interior Maria Ohisalo will attend the informal meeting of the EU home affairs ministers on 28 April. At the meeting, the ministers will discuss measures to fight coronavirus in the home affairs sector. The ministers will be meeting in a video conference.
The ministers are to have an exchange of views on the member states' own actions and on the EU's common policies. The EU home affairs ministers will also discuss the lifting of coronavirus containment measures on the basis of a common European roadmap published on 15 April. The measures concern, for example, border control.
“Each member state makes decisions on its border control measures at national level, but it is important to discuss the state of play together. The roadmap published by the Presidents of the European Commission and the European Council puts forward measures for the gradual lifting of restrictions. The restrictions may be dismantled in stages as and when the disease situation so permits. This is also Finland's view,” Minister Ohisalo says.
