Minister of the Interior Päivi Räsänen to participate in selection mission for Syrian refugees in Jordan
Finnish Minister of the Interior Päivi Räsänen will visit Jordan between 26–29 March to participate in a selection mission for Syrian refugees jointly organised by the Finnish Immigration Service, the UN Refugee Agency UNHCR and the International Organisation for Migration IOM. Ms Räsänen will follow the selection of refugees and visit the Zaatari refugee camp. During her stay in Jordan, Ms Räsänen will also meet Interior Minister Mr Hussein Majali and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mr Ibrahim Saif.
Finland accepts 1,050 quota refugees this year, of whom around 50 per cent Syrian. The purpose of the selection mission is to fill the first 250 places of the quota allocated to Syrian refugees.
