Swedish National Police Commissioner Anders Thornberg will visit Helsinki on Tuesday. During his visit, he will meet Minister of the Interior Krista Mikkonen to discuss the overall situation related to gang crime and how to deal with the related phenomena. Exchange of information and experiences benefits both countries.
There are growing demands on police work in Finland. The Government Programme emphasises measures to prevent gang crime and to strengthen resources for preventive work. Other key measures in the fight against this phenomenon include crime prevention and legislative measures.
“To combat gang crime, we must not only take preventive measures but also tackle crime. The best time to take action in issues is when we intervene in potential criminal or other issues of concern at an early stage,” says Minister Mikkonen.
