Finland to receive relocated asylum seekers from the Mediterranean region - Ministry of the Interior
15.12.2022 | On 15 December 2022, the Government decided that to ease the pressure on the reception systems in the EU Member States in the Mediterranean, Finland will take up to 175 asylum seekers relocated from the region. The asylum seekers can be relocated to Finland if they are likely to be in need of international protection. 23.6.2021 | The Government proposal for legislation on establishing wellbeing services counties and reforming the organisation of healthcare, social welfare and rescue services was adopted by Parliament on 23 June 2021. 9.6.2022 | Border security will be strengthened by improving the ability of the Finnish Border Guard to prepare for and respond to incidents under normal conditions. The proposed amendments will also improve the Border Guard’s preparedness for emergency conditions. 3.3.2022 | EU home affairs ministers will gather in Brussels on 3 March for a meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council. Topics on the meeting agenda will include the state of Schengen and the reform of the EU’s migration and asylum policy. 2.4.2020 | On 2 April, the Government adopted an amendment to the national implementation programme of the EU's Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). The amendment concerns how the compensation paid by the European Commission to Finland for the reception of quota refugees is to be distributed.
