21.4.2026 | The Ministry of the Interior has set up a legislative project to prepare amendments to the Lotteries Act and the Gambling Act concerning the claiming of winnings, with the aim of making it possible to give scratch cards as gifts. The project will run until 31 December 2026.

7.9.2023 | On Thursday 7 September, the Government issued a Decree Amending the Decree on the Running of Veikkaus Oy's Gambling Games. The current decree has been updated to correspond to the amendments made to the Lotteries Act. The amendment will enable Veikkaus to create a new way to run lotteries online.

22.12.2021 | The Lotteries Act that regulates gambling will be amended. The focus of the reform is on preventing harm caused by gambling, combating marketing that violates the Lotteries Act, and directing the demand for gambling towards activities that are covered by the Lotteries Act. The President of the Republic approved the bill on 22 December 2021. The amendments will enter into force on 1 January 2022.

7.9.2023 | Torsdagen den 7 september utfärdade regeringen en förordning om ändring av statsrådets förordning om anordnande av Veikkaus Ab:s penningspel. Den gällande förordningen har uppdaterats så att den motsvarar de ändringar som gjorts i lotterilagen. 25.10.2018 | För att förebygga och minska de ekonomiska, sociala och hälsomässiga skadeverkningar som penningspelandet ger upphov till måste spelarna i fortsättningen identifiera sig när de spelar penningautomatspel i t.ex. butikers eller kioskers utrymmen. Regeringen lämnade en proposition om detta till riksdagen torsdagen den 25 oktober.

21.6.2018 | Enligt förslaget är det ett krav att en spelare identifierar sig i utlokaliserade penningspelsautomater från början av 2021. Avsikten är att man gradvis tar i bruk åtgärder som möjliggör att skadeverkningar av spel minskas till följd av identifiering. Ibruktagandet ska ske med iakttagande av en tillräcklig övergångstid. Den obligatoriska identifieringen gör det tekniskt möjligt att också i fysiska spelautomater ta i bruk de begränsningar som har införts syfte att minska riskspelandet.

16.5.2019 | För att förebygga och minska de ekonomiska, sociala och hälsomässiga skadeverkningar som penningspelandet ger upphov till ska spelarna i fortsättningen identifiera sig när de spelar penningautomatspel som är placerade i anslutning till t.ex. butiker eller kiosker.

23.5.2018 | Inrikesministeriet fortsätter reformen av lotterilagen. Den föregående ändringen av lotterilagen fokuserade på att sammanslå penningspelssammanslutningarna. Det nya bolaget Veikkaus Ab inledde sin verksamhet vid ingången av 2017. I det projekt som nu inleds bereds de författningsändringar som gäller införande av obligatorisk identifiering av spelaren i samband med spel på spelautomater samt tillstånd i fråga om varulotteri, gissningstävlingar, bingo och varuvinstautomater.

7.9.2023 | Hallitus antoi torstaina 7.9. asetuksen Veikkaus Oy:n rahapelien toimeenpanosta annetun asetuksen muuttamisesta. Voimassa olevaa asetusta on päivitetty vastaamaan arpajaislakiin tehtyjä muutoksia. Lisäksi muutos mahdollistaa Veikkaukselle uuden tavan toimeenpanna sähköisiä rahapeliarpoja, eli nettiarpoja.

28.4.2020 | The loss limits of Veikkaus Oy's fast-paced gambling games are to be lowered. The maximum loss limit will be lowered to EUR 500 (now 2,000) per month and EUR 500 (now 1,000) per day. Amendments to the Act will enter into force on 1 May and will remain in force until 30 September 2020. The aim of the amendments is to prevent and reduce more effectively economic, social and health harm caused by gambling during the coronavirus epidemic.

16.12.2021 | Police licence and permit fees are due to change in 2022. The price of a passport will fall, while most prices of other licences and permits will rise. The prices of identity cards will remain unchanged. The changes reflect the cost-correlation of licences and permits. The fees charged for licences and permits must correspond by law to the costs incurred in issuing these documents.

16.5.2019 | In order to reduce the negative economic, social and health impacts of gambling, players are in future required to identify themselves when they play slot machines found in shops or kiosks, for example.

29.5.2019 | The Ministry of the Interior examined the needs to develop gambling legislation. The pilot study assessed, for example, whether gambling harms could be reduced by using technical blocking measures to restrict gambling offerings against the Lotteries Act.
